Digital Photography Seminars

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the seminars? Currently, the seminars are being offered in Chapel Hill on Franklin Street in the Coldwell Banker seminar room. More venues are being selected in Raleigh and Durham and will be announced later in 2008.

Can you get a refund if you cannot attend a seminar you have booked? A large percentage of the costs of putting on a seminar are due to venue costs. Once a seminar venue is booked, than venue costs are incurred. Please assume that there are no refunds and that fees for one seminar can not be applied to another. However, if you can not attend a seminar, or find someone else to attend, please contact me.

Should you bring a notebook computer to a seminar? You are welcome to bring a computer to any of the seminars although you are discouraged from doing so. The seminars have been designed to provide interaction between students and instructors to maximize learning. As all seminar content is provided in seminar outlines, the use of computers usually slows down the learning process. Electrical power is not available and instructors will not answer questions about issues you are having on your computer.

Should you bring your digital camera to digital photography seminars? Yes—we recommend that you bring your digital camera and your camera’s manual to the seminar as you will be learning about camera features and you will want to find those features on your specific camera.

Are you able to get questions answered after attending a seminar? Yes—you will be invited to join a seminar-attendee-only online e-mail group. Not only will I answer your questions, but you will have access to other students and be able to share work, and their questions and answers too. I will also occasionally post tips and comments about fun events or subjects to shoot in your area.

Are young students allowed in the seminars? Young students are always welcome in the seminars and they will be given special attention as gaining a love for art at an early age is invaluable. I’m proud to say that my daughter who I often refer to as my photographic Sherpa followed along behind me in my love of photography until she began leading when she co-authored 50 Fast Digital Photo Projects with me.

Where can I buy your books? My books are available in many books stores and on all online book stores such as Amazon.com. If you bring a book to class I will be pleased to sign if for you.

Do you offer referrals discounts? If you send me an e-mail (ggeorges@mindspring.com) with the name of a friend or family member that will register for a class, you will earn one referral credit. After five credits you are most welcome to pick any seminar and attend free of charge. As referrals reduce the cost of marketing the seminars it allows me to keep the fees low. Thank you in advance for any referrals you provide.
