More about me...

For more than thirty years I’ve been caught up in the never-ending pursuit of creating my next “best image yet”. Since 1999, I’ve been a full-time professional photographer and have written ten photography books that have been published in more than a dozen languages. My work has appeared in many magazines and newspapers including: Inside Lacrosse, Digital Creative Arts, Sports Illustrated, NY Times, Shutterbug, eDigitalPhoto, and Digital Output.

Locally, you may have seen my work on the covers and in the magazines of Fifteen-501 and Wake Living magazines. Also, my fine art photography is represented by Turning Point Gallery in University Mall. Additionally, I have photographed many local lacrosse and soccer teams for nearly a decade including teams at Duke, UNC, NC State, and Chapel Hill and East Chapel Hill high schools.

This past year, I was the staff photographer for the amazing American Dance Festival and am considering working on a book in 2008 for the 75th anniversary of ADF. I also shoot for the Theater in the Park, which is the theater group that presents the highly entertaining Christmas Carole to more than 24,000 attendees each year. Soon, I hope to have a publisher for a book on tropical waterlilies, which have been one of my favorite subjects for six years and growing.

Being a beta team member for more than 15 products for companies including Adobe has given me incredible insight into product use and capabilities. Adobe has quoted me in their annual report and on the product packaging for Adobe Photoshop CS. My “Young Winter” portrait is part of Corel’s Corel Painter X’s advertising.

I’ve presented at many workshops and Betterphoto.com offers my four-week sports photography class online each month. More importantly, I love teaching and seeing my students gain the level of happiness from their photography as I have for mine.
